On July 21st, 2023, Toyota Motor Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. announced their cooperation in the development of lunar rovers in partnership with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The two companies are currently developing their own lunar rovers and aim to develop a vehicle utilizing each other's technologies for launch in 2029. The NASA-led “Artemis Program,” in which Japan is also participating, aims for the manned lunar landing from 2025. After that, it is envisioned to build a moon base via space station for Moon and Mars exploration, known as Gateway. …
