During an interview with Japanese and U.S. ministry officials on May 15th, it was announced that the U.S. government has delivered the SM3 Block 2A, a new interceptor missile jointly developed by Japan and the U.S., to the Ministry of Defense based on a grant of military assistance (FMS). It will be deployed on Aegis vessels of the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) one after another.
